Department of State
Washington, DC
September 5, 2013
On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States of
America, I send best wishes to the people of Swaziland as you celebrate
your Independence Day on September 6.
Swaziland and the United States share a long history of working
together in common cause, especially in our partnership to improve the
health of all Swazis. Our productive collaboration has helped the people
of Swaziland make steady progress towards an AIDS-free generation.
The United States remains dedicated to working with Swaziland not
only to turn the tide against this disease, but also to strengthen
democratic governance and promote economic development and trade.
On the 45th anniversary of your independence, I wish all Swazis continued peace and prosperity.
