Five New African Ambassadors Present Letters of Credence at White House

On Monday, February 23, 2015, five new African Ambassadors to the U.S. presented their Letters of Credence to President Obama at an Ambassador Credentialing Ceremony in the Oval Office at the White House.

They are:

* His Excellency Mninwa Johannes Mahlangu, Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa
* Her Excellency Hassana Alidou, Ambassador of the Republic of Niger
* His Excellency Madjid Bouguerra, Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria
* His Excellency Garang Diing Akuong, Ambassador of the Republic of South Sudan
* His Excellency Miguel Ntutumu Evuna Andeme, Ambassador of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea

The presentation of credentials is a traditional ceremony that marks the formal beginning of an Ambassador’s service in Washington.
