"The United States & Ghana" Selected For Congressional Black Caucus Author Pavilion

Washington, DC – AMIP News CEO and author of The United States & Ghana: Celebrating 50 Years of Friendship & Progress, Mr. Frederick Nnoma-Addison, will appear at this year’s CBCF Annual Legislative Conference Author Pavilion scheduled to take place between September 16 and 18 at the Washington, DC Convention Center located at 801 Mount Vernon Place NW Washington, DC 20001-3614. The theme for this year’s event is "Were We Have Been" and "Where We Are Going." Between 8:00 and 9:30am on Thursday September 16, 2010 the Ghanaian born U.S. based journalist and television producer will provide an overview of his book and autograph copies for customers.

The United States & Ghana is a unique title for such an event because it successfully builds a bridge between the United States and Africa by highlighting the bilateral and multilateral bonds. The book chronicles the high points of America’s interactions with Ghana and Africa over a 5 decade period including the interactions between 7 U.S. presidents and 33 African heads of state. The 177 page, perfect bound book was Larry King’s pick during the week of March 1-8, 2010. To date is the most comprehensive photographic compilation of historic events that have transpired between the United States & Ghana since 1957 when Ghana gained political independence from the British. The second part, also in pictures, focuses on the evolution of U.S.-Africa relations. The 237 carefully selected historical photographs and supporting text presents U.S.-Ghana /Africa relations in a chronological time line as has never been done before.

Altogether 33 institutions including 4 U.S. presidential libraries contributed to the publication which took 9 months to complete and thousands of research hours. The books are currently being retailed through its website http://www.usafricapicturebook.org until it reaches books stores across America and is launched in Ghana.

The Author Pavilion situated in the Exhibit Showcase, hosts the nation's premier African American literary and scholarly talent who come from all over the country to sign and sell their books to an informed crowd of elected officials, activists, students, businesses, and representatives from every government agency and private industry. The Pavilion will consist of approximately 60 – 80 authors. Each author will appear in the Pavilion for approximately 2 hours. The sessions will include introduction of the author/book, Q&A, reading/overview of book followed by a meet/greet/book signing. Select authors will be chosen for panel participation.

Over the last six years, CBCF has hosted a diverse array of fiction writers, scholars, and poets, including Dr. Cornel West, Hill Harper, Iyanla Vanzant, Zane, Jeff Johnson, Dr. Maya Angelou, Congressmen John Lewis, Connie Briscoe, Walter Mosley, Charles Ogletree, Judge Mathis and Omar Tyree among many others. The event which is produced by The Renaissance Group, LLC (TRG) is expected to attract an estimated 25,000 guests over three days. Admission is free and open to the public. Howard University Bookstore is the official book seller for the event.
